Simrad's NSS Sport Range |
Touch-screens and access to the latest weather information were some of the features that were on display on the various electronic brand stands at the 2011 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
Simrad's touch-screen NSS Sport series of class-leading multifunction displays made their international boat show debut at SCIBS.
Based on the Simrad NSE platform and developed for fishing, sailing and cruising, the feature-packed NSS Sport offers the combination of touch-screen, keypad, and rotary knob control.
The touch-screen is prefect for quickly placing way points, marking fish, and acquiring radar targets. The rotary knob is the most effective way of controlling proportional functions such as zooming on a chart, adjusting gain or steering the autopilot.
Powered by a rugged marine processor, the NSS Sport is available in three ultra-clear and energy efficient LED display sizes - the NSS7 (16.3cm), NSS8 (21.3cm) and NSS12 (30.5cm). The NSS7 and NSS8 also have built-in Broadband Sounder technology and the NSS12 can be integrated with Simrad's BSM-2 module.
Pre-loaded with Navionics Coastal Cartography, the NSS Sport is compatible with a huge range of options including Broadband Radar and SocialHub.
Furuno's NavNet 3D and Maxsea Timezero on display at SCIBS |
The sounder features the FCV-585 Fish Finder and DFF1 Sounder module, state-of-the-art technology which enables the user to discriminate between different sea floor features such as mud, sand, gravel and rock. This is achieved by analysing different echoes from materials of different size and hardness. The boat owner can connect the BBDS1 to the NavNet 3D MFD8, MFD12 or MFDBB network to experience this unique feature.

Features include seamless zoom in and out of charts with zero redraw time, easier access to tools in a new icons toolbar, Personal Bathymetric Generator (PBG) function enabling the user to produce data of the seafloor in 3D display, and the unit has advnaced compatibility with the Furuno Network Fish Finder. It produces innovative recording of tracks and marks, free weather forecasts and oceanographic data.
